ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A new program launching in rural communities helps bring technology and support to kids dealing with asthma.
It’s a statewide pilot called ALPACAH, short for At Last, Pediatric Asthma Care at Home.
The 18-month study will sign up families at more than a dozen providers in rural Missouri, holding clinics with pulmonologists and respiratory therapists and connecting families to telehealth providers and take-home monitoring equipment.
On Friday, a clinic at the Great Mines Health Center in Potosi brought in families like Kayla Boyer’s. Her 15-year-old daughter, Neveah, and 9-year-old son, Waylon, had both struggled with difficulties at times.
